Turkey Vulture

Last year was the first time I ever saw a Turkey Vulture up close. This year I was walking the beach and saw movement in the dune area. As I walked up to the dune I saw a Turkey Vulture digging in a turtle nest. As I walked up to the Vulture it stopped digging and looked at me. Then it flew up into a near by tree and kept looking at me. I stepped back about 15 feet and the vulture came back to the nest. It found an egg which still had a turtle in it. Having turtle for lunch. I walked back up to the nest and he flew back into the tree. I guess he was not happy that I was there. So I left. About 2 weeks later the nest and part of this tree was washed away by the erosion. Back to the 2008 Summer Travel Directory
